Biosketch
Patrick obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at TUM in 2021, and then went on to complete my M.Sc. in the study programme Robotics, Cognition, Intelligence (RCI) in 2025 with a thesis entitled “Towards Provable Safety in Lane Detection for Autonomnous Vehicles”. During his Master’s degree Patrick spent 8 months in Beijing, China working as an intern for VW. He is now about to join the team of Prof. Althoff at the Cyber-Physical Systems Group as an associated relAI PhD student.

His research interests mainly lie in the intersection of deep learning and formal methods, with which robustness and safety properties can be certified for neural networks. More specifically, he is interested in applying the techniques of set-based reachability analysis to neural networks in order to verify the safety of their outputs. Patrick is also interested in the applicability of these approaches to safety-critical use cases such as autonomous driving or railway traffic.
