Mónica is Science Manager at the Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable Artificial Intelligence and the Munich Data Science Institute of the Technical University Munich (TUM).
She has a primary degree in Chemistry (Quantum Chemistry and Biochemistry specializations) followed by a PhD in Chemistry. Her main research fields of expertise are Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. Within these areas, she held several scientific and management positions. She worked as postdoctoral scientist in Bioinformatics at EMBL, focussing on evolutionarily and chemical biology research questions and led an independent junior research group at Helmholtz Zentrum Munich on the systems Biology of small molecules´ topic.
In the last years, she expanded her management experience on the roles of project manager of a European Commission project on Big Data in Chemistry as well as a coordinator of grant applications on the Nuclear Medicine department of the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the TUM.
